Barefoot Rick's Footwear?

Sounds like an oxymoron to me! Footwear? Well, of course there are always those times when work and various institutions insist on something covering my feet. So, I have obliged them (in the most minimalist way I know!) The following are a few of my choices for covering the "dogs" when out and about.

The moccasins shown above are my colder weather choices for footwear. I wear these to the office and when out at places that require footwear. (Left) I found these at Wal-mart for $12! They are a bargain! Leather uppers with a flat 1/4" sole. Great to knock around in! (Right) These are a little more high-end. Got this pair of Minnetonkas in Colorado for $70. (I'm pretty certain they can be found on the internet cheaper.) Both pairs I wear with no socks.

I found these Sunsteps Hurrache-type shoes at the local Shoe Carnival store here in the metro Kansas City area. These are my warmer weather choice. The leather webbing allows for your feet to breathe. Of course, I don't wear socks with these, either.

I cut the soles off of the water shoes pictured here. These serve well when the snow is too deep and I am driven inside to the local fitness center where I run the indoor track. They flop around a bit, but fulfill the requirement for footwear within the facility.

And, finally, for those just starting out barefoot running these Callus Cushions from Dr. Scholl's work very well to allow a person to run longer in the beginning. I have not used them past the first few months of barefoot running, but they helped greatly making the transition from shod to unshod.
