1st Annual Polar Barefoot Fun Run - January 1, 2005
Longview Lake, Kansas City Missouri

Who would've thunk it? The weather was a balmy 48 degrees in KC on January 1, 2005 as Barton Reese and Rick Roeber ran a mile along the Longview Lake bike trail for the inaugural Polar Barefoot Fun Run. Actually, this was Bart's first ever barefoot run! Way to start out the year right, Bart!

On New Years Day '06, we can only hope for more "fitting" weather to give credibility to the name "Polar Barefoot Fun Run".

What: 1st Annual Polar Barefoot Fun Run
When: Noon - January 1, 2005
Where: Longview Lake, Shelter #14, Kansas City Missouri
Distance: Half mile and one mile barefoot run (take your pick!). For those who want to go further, we will be running the bike path or along the path on the grassy shoulder.
Entry Fee: FREE!

Start the year off right with a barefoot run! The weather could be mild or very cold (hey, this is Kansas City!). The Polar Bear Swim Club will have nothing on us as we establish a local tradition in the Heartland. Come be part of this historic event!

Post-race coffee and hot chocolate will be provided.

Disclaimer: The organizers waive all responsibility for unprepared
barefoot runners. Barefoot running in extreme cold can produce
numbing and temporary nerve damage if the runner does not prepare
